Hulking out

Ok, so two things:

1. I upped my running mileage from previous weeks, I am now running 20 miles per week.  I need to up it still and start running outside instead of on the treadmill, that is coming soon.

2. HULK SMASH!  Man, Carrie and I went to see “The Incredible Hulk” yesterday and it was awesome.  Honestly, I really liked it…alot.  There were all of the things I expected to see in the movie and the Hulk was dope sauce to the extreme.  Go see it!

The top 5 reasons to see Iron Man: #1

#1 Robert Downey Jr.

Now that I have seen the movie, I can say I agree with Richard Roeper when he says “Robert Downey Jr. is this movie.” Honestly, he was freaking awesome. There were so many times that his acting (as Stark) was true to the character and was just fun to watch. He really made you like (or not like at times) Tony Stark and really get the sense that he wanted to change the way things were. Great job Robert, bravo.

This movie has all the things I love about a movie, action, comedy and ofcourse EXPLOSIONS. The geek-o-meter was off the charts when watching Iron Man suit up and head out to do some damage.

This movie was really-really great, I need to see it again, but I don’t have any hesitation with putting it already up at the top among all of the super hero movies. Once I see it a few more times, I can make a better assessment. So, what are you waiting for? Go see this movie!!!

#2 Action + Explosions = Warm Fuzzies

If you are like me (a guy) then you find it entertaining when things explode and bad guys get beat down. First, I don’t really know what it is about the explosion that I like so much, maybe it is the magnitude of the potential to kinetic energy conversion or the majesty of the flames dancing around the screen, but it just makes me feel warm inside. Now, given the nature of the movie (action with a lot of tech) there should be A LOT of explosions. I always say, even if the acting is so-so (which from the reviews, is far from the quality in this movie), all I really need is some good explosions to make it entertaining. Secondly, the bad guys getting beaten down should be pretty obvious, it is just cool:

#3 He’s as real as it’s going to get

One thing I have always liked about Tony Stark is that he is flawed in ways that are all too human.  He is an alcoholic (at least borderline), he is a womanizer and has even had serious medical conditions ail him.  He struggles with doing the right thing sometimes and has a rough past (from my perspective).  This all makes for an interesting character that should make you care more about what happens to him.

#4 It’s a movie of firsts

This is not only the first movie produced in house by Marvel Studios but also the first action flick Jon Favreau has directed and the first action film in which Robert Downey Jr. will play the lead character. A recipe for disaster or a brilliant collaboration? You decide ;) .

#5 Respect

As Wikipiedia will tell you (click this link), Iron Man has been around for 45 years. His first appearance was in “Tales of Suspense #39″ (oh how I wish comics still cost 12c :P ):

Over the years his appearance has changed but his coolness has not. He is a character that has been loved by millions of readers and has endured the test of time until the day that he could have his own movie made.

This demands some respect, so I say: give that man his props.

Welcome to a world without rules

What a great tag line! Dang, that’s 4 movies I have to see this summer, what a tough requirement I place on myself :P . Luckily it comes out right before our anniversary so if we decide to see a movie we have one to see!

Everything you know…is about to change

The keyword to making a sequel: more. Hopefully the story in “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” can hold up the action, the first movie was enjoyable so this one will hopefully follow in it’s steps. The books seemed to be loved by millions so I can’t imagine the story is that bad, unless it is a bad adaptation.

Best April Fools joke that should be made reality

Wow, some websites put up funny stories or doctor a picture to make it seem believable, but the guys over at IGN.com sure went through a lot of trouble to make this. Even if you know nothing about The Legend of Zelda, this movie would still be cool if it were done at Hollywood quality.
